Privacy Policy

Last updated · 10 September 2026

This application, “Bungo Bible” (the “App”), respects your privacy. The following policy sets out how the App handles personal information.

This is an English translation of the original Japanese policy, provided for convenience. If the two versions differ in meaning, the Japanese version prevails.

1.Data we collect

The App stores the data below on your device. There is no developer-operated server, and the only data that ever leaves your device is what you choose to sync through iCloud (Apple’s CloudKit).

Data Purpose Where it is stored Sent off device?
Reading position (last book and chapter opened) Resuming where you left off at launch On device (UserDefaults) No
Bookmarks Verses you have chosen to save On device (SwiftData), plus your iCloud account if sync is enabled Only when iCloud sync is on — via Apple’s CloudKit, into your own private database
Highlights Verse colouring you have applied On device (SwiftData), plus your iCloud account if sync is enabled Only when iCloud sync is on — via Apple’s CloudKit, into your own private database
Notes Text notes you have written On device (SwiftData), plus your iCloud account if sync is enabled Only when iCloud sync is on — via Apple’s CloudKit, into your own private database
Display settings Restoring your preferences at next launch On device (UserDefaults) No
Purchase status Confirming your purchase of the App On device, and with Apple’s StoreKit Through StoreKit only

2.Data we do not collect

3.Disclosure to third parties

The App does not provide any collected data to third parties. Purchases are handled through Apple’s StoreKit framework, and that communication is processed by Apple.

If you enable iCloud sync, your bookmarks, highlights and notes are stored in your own iCloud account (a CloudKit private database) and shared between devices signed in to the same Apple Account. The developer cannot access this data. Sync is off by default and can be turned on or off at any time from the App’s settings screen.

4.Third-party SDKs, advertising and tracking

The App contains no third-party libraries of any kind — no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting SDK. It performs no user tracking of the sort covered by App Tracking Transparency.

5.Analytics on this website

Sections 1–4 above concern the iOS app. Separately from the app, this website (bungo-bible.com) uses Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand how it is being used.

Measurement is off until you allow it. These scripts are loaded, and cookies are set, only if you accept on the banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, no request to Google or Microsoft is made at all. Your choice is stored in your browser (localStorage) and can be changed at any time from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.

Google Analytics records things such as the pages viewed, an approximate region, the referring site, and browser and OS type. Microsoft Clarity additionally records how the page is used — clicks, scrolling and pointer movement — as heatmaps and session replays. Neither records anything that identifies you personally, such as a name or email address, and text typed into form fields is not captured. See Google’s privacy policy and Microsoft’s privacy statement for how that data is handled.

The app itself still performs no analytics of any kind.

6.Children’s privacy

The App is suitable for all ages, and it collects no personal information from anyone, including users under the age of 13.

7.Deleting your data

Uninstalling the App from your device deletes all local data it has stored — bookmarks, highlights, notes and settings.

Data synced to iCloud can be removed from iOS Settings → your Apple Account → iCloud → “Apps Using iCloud”, by deleting the App’s data there.

8.Changes to this policy

This policy may be revised as necessary. Significant changes will be announced in the App or on this page.
